About Frank Conroy

Coach Conroy has been coaching at the CYO, High School, AAU and Collegiate levels for more than 35 years. He has coached at Mt. St. Vincent, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Francis Colleges. He was the Varsity Basketball coach at Greenwich High School as well as Salesian High School. While at Salesian, he coached Willie Ladson, who played professional basketball for 15 years; Eric Mobley, who was a first round draft pick of the Milwaukee Bucks and Shane Woney, the Dribbling Machine from AND ONE fame. Coach Conroy has also coached the Westchester Warriors, an AAU boys team for nine years as well as the Westchester Lady Stars, a girls AAU team for two years. Coach Conroy’s Salesian team was a city finalist in 1989. He has also won back to back CYO Westchester/Putnam championships in 2009-2010, 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 coaching Meghan’s (his daughter) 5th and 6th grade teams at Holy Family and he has also won a CYO Westchester/Putnam championship coaching Kevin’s (his son) 8th grade team at Holy Family (2007-2008) as well as two CYO State Titles coaching Christine’s (his daughter) 7th and 8th grade teams at Holy Family (2004-2005 and 2005-2006). He has coached the Varsity B team at Iona Prep for the past 16 years and his 2002 team was a finalist in the Β’ championship and his Iona Prep Varsity B team won the B championship in 1999, 2008, 2020, and 2022.

The 2019-2020 team went 16-0 in league play and 20-1 overall and defeated Christ the King, & Archbishop Molloy to get to the finals and then defeated Archbishop Stepinac 85-81 in the Varsity B finals played in front of a full house at Iona Prep. Coach Conroy was named C.H.S.A.A. Coach of the Year in 2019-2020.

The 2021-2022 went 9-3 in league play & 14-5 overall. They defeated Bishop Loughlin at home in the first round of the playoffs, then defeated Christ the King in the semi-finals on the road and then defeated St. Raymond’s on the road in the championship game 56-52 to win the Varsity B championship.

He is looking forward to coaching the 2022-23 Iona Varsity B team.

Coach Conroy also directs BASKETBALL FUNDAMENTALS, an Instructional Basketball Program for Boys and Girls ages 4-12. This program teaches fundamental skills in a positive “winning” atmosphere. In addition, Coach Conroy provides private lessons for individuals or groups of two players who are working on skill development.

Coach Conroy is presently the Chairman of the Social Studies Department at Iona Prep and teaches Government and Economics as well as American History. He is looking forward to coaching the Iona Prep Varsity B team in 2022-2023.

He resides in New Rochelle with his wife Gail and their three children, Meghan, Kevin and Christine.
